Somatic Restoration

A gentle, body-based approach to feeling safer, more present, and more at ease in your life

If you’ve tried talking things through, thinking differently, or “pushing yourself” to feel better, but still find yourself anxious, shut down, overwhelmed, or disconnected, there is nothing wrong with you.

Your nervous system is simply doing what it learned to do to survive.

Somatic Restoration is a slow, supportive way of working with your body and nervous system to help you move out of survival patterns and into greater ease, presence, and capacity.

What is Somatic Restoration?

‘Somatics’ is derived from the Greek root ‘soma’ which means ‘the living body known from within’. Somatic Restoration is a gentle, body-based form of support that helps you feel safer and more at ease in your body by learning how your body responds to stress, safety, connection, and everyday life.

This work helps you understand and skillfully attend to what is happening in your body and nervous system.

Your nervous system shapes:

  • how safe or unsafe you feel

  • how easily you rest or stay alert

  • how you respond to stress, conflict, or uncertainty

  • whether you feel connected to yourself and others, or numb and withdrawn

When your nervous system has been under prolonged stress or you’ve experienced trauma, it can stay stuck in patterns of anxiety, depression, urgency, shutdown, or collapse, even when you look “fine” on the outside.

Somatic Restoration helps your system learn how to feel safe enough to settle, feel more easeful, and respond differently to stress over time.

How Somatic Restoration Can Help

    • chronic anxiety or nervousness

    • feeling disconnected, numb, or “not really here”

    • overwhelm, burnout, or exhaustion

    • difficulty resting or slowing down

    • feeling stuck in old patterns despite insight or therapy

    • trouble feeling safe in their body or with others

    • a greater sense of safety and internal steadiness

    • improved ability to tolerate stress without becoming overwhelmed

    • more access to rest, clarity, and choice

    • deeper connection to yourself and your needs

    • a felt sense of support rather than constant effort

  • Somatic Restoration sessions are:

    • one-on-one

    • conversational and experiential

    • practice-oriented

    • focused on nervous system awareness and regulation

We often engage in somatic psychoeducation as we begin so you have a framework of understanding for the work.

Then we will work with things like:

    • orienting to safety and support

    • your breath and subtle body cues

    • noticing sensations and impulses

    • tracking what helps your system settle

    • gentle practices you can take into daily life

  • Is this therapy?

Somatic Restoration is not therapy, but it can be therapeutic. It’s a body-based practice space that focuses on helping your nervous system feel safer and more supported. We are not diagnosing anything in this space. Sessions are paced gently, and many people find the work complements therapy well.

What if I don’t feel very connected to my body?

That’s totally okay, and very common. You don’t need to be “good at feeling” for this work. We start exactly where you are. Over time, many people naturally begin to notice more subtle cues from their body, but there’s no pressure and no right way for it to look.

What if I’ve never done anything like this before?

That’s very common. Many people come to Somatic Restoration with no prior experience at all. You don’t need to know what to expect or do anything “right.” The work is gentle, supportive, and guided step by step.
